They are still running six ships right?...and narcissa road location in bluebell is the only one with 2 stationed there according to Penn's webpage, why only two there and no where else?....secondly, if one ship goes out of service for mechanical work, how is it determined who picks up the slack in that "due" area, is it simply next closest?....lastly,can anyone give me concrete answer as to the "due area" of pennstar 2, i know its based outta west chester, id like to think the cut-ff is somewhere around berwyn area or maybe even closer to valleyforge, i dunno, just speculating, anyone know for sure???

One of those ships is supposed to be the inter-facility transport ship, it has Temple University markings on it. It does do scene calls when needed. As far as I know it was placed there to be more centrally located to the entire response area.

To my knowledge the response areas are fluid based on availability of aircraft.

As for being down mechanical- depending on the length to time the aircraft will be down, the vendor may be required to send a replacement aircraft.

yes.

yes, i checked their site, but i wasnt sure how often they update those sites, not all agencies keep on top of that stuff, plus i have much more confidence in the members of this board when it comes down to "inside info" that you can't always get from the webpages themselves.

PennStar 6 is supposed to be the T3 ship.
If one goes out of service, I think it's up to where the call is that will detemine the next due

It is up to the individual 911 centers to determine who they will call, usually based on base location. If PennStar 2 is OOS and Chester County has an accident at 202 & 100, they are going to go to SkyCare, rather than wait for PennStar 1. If SkyCare is out or OOS also, their CAD will tell them who is next closest.
