I have a military HF radio - an R-390/URR and SSB Mode Selector - for sale. It's just too heavy for shipping so I have to offer it for sale locally and only for pickup. It includes two pieces:
1. The R-390/URR for the Army Signal Corps made by Motorola (very rare), serial number 491
2. Receiving Mode Selector, CV-591A/URR, Model MSR 4, serial number 4909 made by Technical Materiel Corporation of Mamaroneck NY. This is the single sideband selector with a world of controls including AVC, BFO, Bandspread, Audio Gain, etc. for perfect reception of SSB.
No need to describe the capabilities of this radio since anyone interested would be very familiar with it. I've had it in storage for several years and don't know it's current operating condition. It worked perfectly the last time used but after storage might (or might not) need a couple of tubes replaced.
Included is the original Department of the Army Technical Manual/Department of the Air Force Technical Order (134 pages, published January 1955) and the original Instruction Manual prepared for the military by Collins Radio Company (209 pages, published October 1953) for the R-390 including schematics. Plus...the original Technical Manual for the Mode Selector Unit prepared by The Technical Materiel Corporation for the Bureau of Ships, Department of the Navy - also including schematics (published October 1958). Those original documents might be worth their weight in gold to a collector.
If interested, contact me via PM or email at boston@erols.com with an offer. This is a stock photo of the unit....
