Vagrant, never say never. Icom could surprise you. The 8600 is out of price range for most. If they could do a R30 version with a smaller waterfall display and price it around $1300, could be a big seller. As far as a newer version of the R30 with a waterfall display, think it would be similar to the 52A as far as construction, size and weight. IF Icom did do this, would become the number 1 handheld receiver on the market. Don't think Icom could make enough as they would be swallowed up fast.

We're already headed off the runway, so I'll leave that pie in the sky receiver for a future thread. I may post back once the BP-293 arrives and see what kind of runtime I get with different AA NiMH batteries.

Can someone please report on the runtime of using AA alkaline or AA NiMH using the R30 battery pack? Thanks.
