@palmerjrusa

I set the PAUSE timer to HOLD and the RESUME timer to 4 seconds. The RESUME timer must be set shorter than the PAUSE timer, otherwise it won’t work properly.

You can set A and B VFO timers independently.

Ok, here's what I've found:

With pause set at "Hold" and resume set at "0 sec" then the "Hold" setting for the RX popup option works.
The popup remains on the display.
Set the RX popup at "RX receive" with the above settings and the popup stays until the signal ends then disappears.
Not sure what's going on here and why the RX popup option's behavior is erratic when the resume setting is not set to "0 sec".

My RX popup is set to RX hold, with all other settings as I posted.

Sorry, I’ve conflated the R30 holding a transmission with the RX Popup function.

The TGID only displays 3 seconds on mine, even when set to RX Popup HOLD. I’m not sure how these functions interact.

It's weird, set resume to "4 sec" with the "Hold" setting on the "RX Popup" and it's intermittent, sometimes the Popup info holds permanently, sometimes not. Then go and set resume to "0 sec" and the Popup info holds all the time on the display.

Yeah the "RX hold" option works as expected with me, as far as I'm aware.

I'm pretty sure you understand RX popup is just info only. It does not affect actual reception.

Have you upgraded firmware to 1.10?

Yeah I know it doesn't affect reception, it's just something I noticed and can't let go of...
Yeah I have the latest firmware = 1.10.

There's still the observation that my ic-r30 receives 100% of traffic on two P25 trunking systems (with weaker signals) and only about 20% of traffic on my local P25 trunked system which has a very strong signal.

Have you tried to attenuate the signal? Change RFG from max to lower number, or remove the antenna?

Removing antenna is just diagnostic, just trying to determine how much attenuation is necessary.

Well I Purchased The R30, The AA Battery Pack & RT Systems Programming From Universal Radio Yesterday Now Wait To Play. Thanks Guys

Have fun, I think you will love the radio once you get the hang of it!
Check the firmware version on your R30 when you get it. It should be at 1.10

One word of advice, make sure you check for updates with RTs software. And then get in the habit of checking pretty often. If it says updates are available, you must close the main program before clicking the Update button. The updater is its own executable that is not smart enough to close the main program when told to perform the update.
There were several bugs with their R30 software in its the early days. An example is a version would set the RF Gain down to its lowest setting and make things appear deaf. I forget if that occurred during read or write but once it is listed that way in the software, it will write to the radio with the same poor gain setting. I've also had it screw up some of the digital type settings as well. I think that was fixed. I still see weird things when using RT Systems program when doing imports using the radio reference feature or a CSV type file import. Just keep an eye on the data after import before you write the radio and you should be fine.
If you encounter any possible bugs with RTs software, email them. They have always fixed proven bugs very fast.

Thanks All Of My Ham Radios I Use RT Systems. I Don't Have Internet Just My Smart Phone. But When I Get Time I Use The Free Stuff Around Town To Update My Files.

Yes I've played around with these settings, though not systematically, and it didn't seem to make a difference.
I tried listening and comparing with other P25 trunked systems yesterday and it doesn't seem related to signal strength. I'm leaning to some aspect of the system itself.

I tried going through all the RFG settings and it didn't seem to make a difference.
What's interesting is that if you happen to be holding on the frequency the system is using it receives just fine, it's only when I'm scanning the system's frequencies that reception is erratic so it seems to be something related to the radio not always stopping on a frequency that's active during scanning. I've also tried playing along with the squelch settings to no avail.

It's the same deal on my ic-r8600.
The P25 trunked Frederick system opens the squelch erratically when scanning the frequencies but with a couple of other P25 trunked systems that have weaker signals it scans and opens/receives signals 100%.

Ok, for my ic-r8600, slowing down the scanning speed seems to help a lot, I now appear to be picking up all the transmissions.
