I just got an Icom IC-R6.

Is it normal when viewing the LCD straight on that it appears "dim." If I look at the LCD from above, all the letters are very vivid but if looking straight on, they seem to disappear.

Does the R6 come preprogrammed with frequencies in the memory slots?

Thanks

Mine also looks a little dim when looking straight compared to looking slightly down.
The R6 comes with some frequencies installed. They are listed in chapter 12 of the manual.

To clear all memory see page 63,

Resetting the receiver CLEARS all memory information and initializes all values in the receiver.
The preprogrammed (depending on the receiver version) memory information is also cleared.
➥ While holding down [FUNC] and [V/M], turn the power ON to reset the CPU.

You can change the contrast for your best viewing angle in the Set Mode - CONT.

You can also do a partial reset (everything BUT existing memories are cleared) or a full reset.
