• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Every time I turn on the R7 - I have to set an active scan list (I only have 1 list) to get my scan button to function. My side top button is scan on/off.

Is there a way around this?

When I copied and pasted a code plug into the R7, the scan list never migrated/pasted over. So, once I assigned the scan list to the freq, eveything worked fine. My fault for overlooking it and assuming the scan list would migrate over.

When I got my R7, I used the migration function in CPS 2. I read my 7550 & programmed it to the R7. Everything took except the scan list. So the next day I did it again, but used my 7550e as the master radio. That time the scan list went to the R7. I don’t know why it made a difference, but it did.

I'm better versed at programming Apx, and also a much bigger fan of the programming software vs programming TRBO.

So Im doing another R7. I have scan / edit / select new list enabled in menu. I have multiple scan lists and all freqs are assigned to a list.

When I go into menu, then scan all I see is the option to turn scan on/off. Edit and select new list are not visible.

Any suggestions?

FYI, if you have all scan options enabled & have created scan lists (but can not choose list, edit list etc. from Scan in menu) these steps must be done per Motorola.

Root cause - Front programming password in the radios configuration/codeplug is set to disabled

Workaround/fix - Set the front programming password option in the general settings section of the radios codeplug/configuration to either User or Dealer. The front programming password field is the third from the last field in the section.

Why the front programming password would effect the scan list options? I don't know. But it does.

Should have pasted twice as contacts, channels and different lists depend on each other.
