Has anyone used an R820T in a Windows virtual machine from a Mac? I can't seem to get the USB driver to work.

Are you running parallel desktop or vmware fusion? Did you download the latest Zadig drivers?
Make sure you install the 32 package even if your on a 64bit machine

Zadig - USB driver installation made easy

What host app are you using for the rtl
Sdr# or HDSDR?

VirtualBox. Latest version. I did download the latest zadig drivers. The R820T came up as a Realtek device. I'm using SDR#, but doesn't matter since there's no RTL-SDR/USB seen by Windows.

Run Zadig and select the device. Zadig will tell you which driver is paired with the device. If it is paired to any driver other than WinUSB, it won't work. Of course, Zadig can fix that for you too. Also, beware there is a special version of Zadig for Windows XP only.

The link Zeno provided is the official home for Zadig. It may have a more recent version. The site is sponsored by advertisements so be careful when clicking "Download". Some of the ads include the word "Download" but they're not for Zadig.

Looking at your screen shot, don't know what's going on.

Here's some info on the code 10 (which you probably already knew):

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104

Try this ...

1. delete the device from Device Manager.
2. remove the device
3. reboot
4. log back into machine
5. re-insert device
6. run Zadig and re-associate with WinUSB.

Good luck!

Thanks for your guys help. I found that I really didn't have the virtual machine configured well. VirtualBox requires an expansion pack to enable USB 2.0. I now have the drivers installed and SDR# sees the R820T. I'm now working on choppy audio...

Lower the sample rate of the rtl in sdr sharp click on the gear icon on the top left. Lower it to about 1 mhz
of bandwidth

If you can search around try to use VMWARE Fusion on the mac or just use bootcamp and you wont have any issues
