R8500 HF Connection

I used to hook up my long wire HF antenna to the SO-239 connector but recently tried the Phono jack as suggested by the manual. Interesting thing is despite the recommendation to use the Phono jack my reception is poorer. I can't even pick up the 5Mhz clock.

Obviously I'll still use the SO-239 but wanted to hear from users which HF connection they normally use.

Did you select the proper connector in the set up menu ?
See page 5 in the manual....

Yes I did

False alarm. It works. I haven't used my receiver in many years and realized I was looking for broadcast during the day when I should have been looking at night
