Antenna question: I have an 8600 on the way and I want to use it with my AOR SA-7000 antenna. The antenna covers 30khz through 2ghz but only uses one feedline. What is my best option for connecting the antenna to the 8600?

Disregard, I looked at the manual online and got my answer!

I have one, bought it to dissect and learn how its made. On HF its way down in signal level compared to something like a PAR end fed SW with 45ft of wire. Its better than using a VHF/UHF Discone on HF and it is quite but mostly because its somewhat deaf. It will pick up lots of big SW stations but I find weak signals on HF amateur bands get lost on the SA-7000 where they are ok copy on a larger antenna.

VHF/UHF is ok, not great but ok. I think it works a little better than a Discone on a few discreet frequencies but a Discone will work much more consistent over about 120 to 500MHz where the SA-7000 will have holes in the spectrum in places you might need.

I know this is unrelated but what do you think of the SA-7000? I remember reading about it ages ago but I never found any user reviews of this antenna.

I've owned a couple of these over the years. I found it to work very well on the 700-800MHz band. After removing the top 3'rd element of the longer vertical element I found it to perform very well as a dual band VHF/UHF aircraft antenna. I sold my first one to a friend and he put it up on a 30 ft tower with a 10 ft mast (40 ft total) at his cottage in Lexington, Michigan (North of Port Huron), just off Lake Huron. He also found it to work well on 700-800 MHZ as well as the Marine band, FD & EMS VHF.

For a second there I thought this was a pic of my SA-7000, it's installed exactly the same.

I have one connected to my IC-R8600.
There's better choices for HF but it's not too bad, being a wideband antenna there are compromises.
Performs pretty well on VHF/UHF
I have magnetic loops for HF, and they work very well, especially with nulling out RF interference.

So far so good. I don’t have a lot of antenna options right now and this one is doing quite well. I monitor two 700/800 MHz systems, Some VHF conventional ad well as VHF and UHF air. I am very pleased. HF seems very good too but I haven’t spent a lot of time there yet.
I bought this one used but I am pretty sure it had never been out of the box. It was well worth what I paid for it.
