I plugged my R8600 into an old computer with SDR Sharp and selected the source as other (sound card). I can send SDR Sharp either the IF or audio from the 8600 via USB and can see and play with the SDR Sharp spectrum display but its been a few years since I've used SDR Sharp.

Has anyone used this setup to demodulate DMR or other waveforms from the R8600? If so what settings did you use?

I am also wondering if anyone has been able to get DSD plus to work .

Settings and output from radio would be most appreciated.

1. Make sure you disable "Filter Audio"
2. set BW to something sensible for the signal to be demodulated

around 4000 is what I set for NXDN48, around 8000 for NXDN96 / DMR, and around 9500 for P25. Those aren't hard figures though.

Key thing is making sure "Filter Audio" is disabled though, or you'll have all sorts of problems decoding.

Of course you'll want VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) or VB cable so that you can then pass from SDR# to DSDPlus (if that is what you are using for decode). You could go directly from sound card to DSDPlus if you wanted as well. But if you want to be able to "see" the signal in SDR#, then you'll want a virtual audio cable to pass the SDR# output to a virtual audio cable line, which in turn can then be used as the source Input for DSDPlus.

What I am looking to do is go from radio to dsd plus only.

If you can send unfiltred USB audio from the 8600 then DSD+ have no problem using it.
The USB audio should be identified as one of the sources available to DSD+ when you start the program.

Are you indeed using a Icom ic-r8600 ?

What I am trying to do is decode drm from icom r8600
using dsd plus .

I would like to hear from others who have done this ,
and how they have it set up .

Maybe I should have started a new thread and omitted mention of
sdr sharp ?

I tried sending usb audio to dsd+ from my 8600 but can't get dmr to decode correctly. I am using Filter 1 for maximum bandwidth (may be too wide for a crowded band) with an AF level of 65% but only get sporadic voice spurts. Reversing the decode does not help. I see a lot of error messages. On the other hand, decoding Provoice transmissions works perfectly. I think that the audio signal is being filtered too much, even using Filter 1. Not sure if the upcoming I/Q output enabling firmware update will improve things, even if I knew how to use it.
