R8600 I/Q versus USB port…new owner here

I am confused! Are there specific case use scenarios where a user would use one or the other of the two ports? I understand the Remote Control aspect of the I/Q port…but if I am wanting to monitor, download, and process WX satellite imagery do I only use the USB port or is this possible thru the I/Q port?

Can I connect both ports at the same time to the same PC?

I apologize in advance for the novice questions…but I have read the manual and the installation guides and have found nothing discussing my question.
