RAAF working with U.S coast guard today.

I heard a RAAF callsign today. (Royal Australian airforce) callsign "Magpie" working with U.S coast guard sector Seattle. Here's an audio clip

I am certain this is not the first time I've heard the RAAF with Seattle. But how in the world do they get here? That seems like an awfully long haul! Is "Magpie" a boat or aircraft?

that is air....they fly through Hickam in Hawaii.

'Magpie' callsisgn is allocated to F/A-18/A Hornets of 75 Squadron. A magpie is an Australian bird with black-and-white plumage and a magpie is depicted in the 75 Squdron's crest, and sometimes painted on the fin of the Hornets.

That's the RAAF Wedgetail, it has been flight testing out of Boeing Field in Seattle for about three years. You can hear them on 364.2 just about every day.
