I found an old antenna (rabbit ears) when doing some early spring cleaning and I was wondering if it might could be tweaked and used for anything. I believe it came from an old stereo system we had in the house. It has two leads coming off of it and when extended, each leg reaches three feet. Let me know if y'all have any ideas or if I should just go on ahead and trash it.

Thanks!

The rabbit ears can be used. I have a set that I attached a 300-75ohm transformer to. I use the ears as a vertical antenna and extend one element down and one up. You can adjust the lengths of the elements for the best reception of the frequency you are interested in. On most freqs the rabbit ears are better than the rubber duck on top of the scanner.

I use rg6 cable. It has f connectors at both ends. One end attaches directly to the 300-75ohm transformer and the other end attaches to a F to BNC adapter which attaches to the scanner. There is a thread on here some where that talks about this. I'll see if I can find it.

THat's awesome man, thanks for the help and the quick response. I figured I'd toss the idea out and see how well it would work, it was laying around and a little project never hurt to kill some time.
