A-Beep / Sears2 - UHF (Chicago) Trunking System, Chicago, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

Since theirs a few listed in the database, I provided the link. This is the same system used during last year's Chicago Marathon. I don't know if this is a private "race cooordination company" . Heard some activity on CFD's EMS South, sounded like racers were collapsing, so I checked into this system again...and wasn't dissapointed. Today's new Talkgroups:

0-17-233
0-17-234

This system may have to be closely monitored as it seems like any Chicago events sem to be using this system. I noticed in the database, the Thanksgiving Day parade was also on this system. It has to be a contracted company i'm sure, not sure which one. Will be keeping an ear to it...

Ummm...ok, are you trying to sell it to me..LOL ! Keep an ear to it when we have large scale events going on...added a few talkgroups to watch for.

I took it that the "werinshades" was looking to determine the identity or identities of the end users of the 0-17-23x TGs that seem to see repeated use on this LTR system for special events. It would appear that A Beep has set aside a block of TGs and perhaps has a bunch of handheld radios programmed and standing by for this type of rental use. The question is whether it's the same end user time after time - and if so, who that user might be. I'm guessing that one of these users might be Ravenswood Event Services - if you go to this website and click on the 'Services' link and then on the picture of the marathon finish line you'll see that they've been involved in the set-up and coordination of the Chicago Marathon as well as some of the Mayor's Office of Special Events (MOSE) gigs like Celtic Fest and Jazz Fest (or at least they were as of 2007, which appears to be the last time the list of events on the website was updated). In 2005 I caught these folks using at least a few of the following simplex UHF freqs at Taste of Chicago and other MOSE events in Grant Park:

463.2875(D664) - events primary?
461.1125(D072) - programming?
468.2875(D413)
466.3375(D261) - security, perhaps not the Ravenswood folks
469.8625(156.7) - "restaurant ops"?
466.8875(???.?) - "channel 7"? main't or garbage ops?
463.1125(D025) - "beverage ops"?

Unknown if they owned the radios they were using for these events or if they were rented - but 4+ years is a long time in the radio world and I don't know if these freqs would still be in use or not.

No, not really. Al thow I could put you in touch with the right people for the system and get you a contract for it as well to look over it. I was just tring to really tell you that its a rental company, so users can change on the fly. Like kevino stated, some may stay their for a while. But just change talkgroup assignments. Thats what makes listening to LTR such a pain, as users are constanily changing.

I bet you could radioguy. Thanks for the link Kev, that appears to be them. On the A-Beep system, I would guess 0-17-xxxx appear to be set up for rental usage. The Chicago Marathon is coming around the corner, so i'll give it a listen that day as well. I'm wondering if Chicago has set up some rental usage on this system too? I'll be paying attention a bit more.

0-17-xxx TGs on A Beep "Sears 2" LTR System

There are some 'regular' users of 0-17-xxx TGs - Superior Ambulance uses the -141/-142 pair as (I believe) their "Chicago 3" channel and their Illinois Medicar subsidiary uses the -144/-145 pair as (I believe) their "IMC 2" channel.

According to my notes, last year's Chicago Thanksgiving Parade saw use of 0-17-197 and -198, and last year's Chicago Marathon saw use of 0-17-199, -200, -201, -202 and -203.

ESP Wireless - UHF (Chicago #1) Trunking System, Chicago, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies has also seen special events use in the past. TGs noted in use for this purpose in the past include 0-09-108, 0-19-106 (12/07 63rd St. Holiday Parade), and 0-19-107/ 0-19-108 / 0-19-116 (all three used for a Chicago Cycling Club ride event in 9/06).

Anyone else have similar commercial TRS "special events" talkgroups that they'd like to share?

Not the most interesting listening around, but it relates to this thread.....I'm hearing LTR rental radios in use at Brighton Park Fall Fest (Archer Ave. between Kedzie & Sacramento) on ESP 'Sears 1' LTR TG 0-19-113. See ESP Wireless - UHF (Chicago #1) Trunking System, Chicago, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies for system details.

Seems that TGs in the 0-19-106 to 0-19-116 range on this system might be set aside for special events rental use.

FWIW, fest runs through Sunday 10/4.....

Some of the LCN's appear to be incorrect. Seeing some Talkgroups flashing, and when I manual the talkgroup, the frequency is incorrect.

ESP 'Sears 1" LTR Corrections, Question

Some of the LCN's appear to be incorrect. Seeing some Talkgroups flashing, and when I manual the talkgroup, the frequency is incorrect.

I've been meaning to contact Terry to get a few things corrected with the info listed for the ESP 'Sears 1' LTR system ESP Wireless - UHF (Chicago Sears #1) Trunking System, Chicago, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies . The freqs listed as LCN 04 and LCN 20 are actually part of the ESP 'Sears 2' system. The freq for LCN 17 should be 472.7625, and I'm not hearing idle channel burst on 471.7625 or 471.8125 (possibly not active with this system?)

While on the subject of the ESP 'Sears 1' system, hearing an unknown private ambulance company on TG 0-05-198. Rig numbers range from around 64 to about 82. Anyone know who this is?

2009 Chicago Marathon communications will be handled in part by Amateur Radio volunteers. A few local repeaters and simplex channels will be used. Have a scan around the 2m and 70cm ham bands on race day to hear medical and logistical traffic.

That dispatcher on CW-6=460.25 for the "Race" sure knows her stuf, she had those cops hopp-in on street closures and openings....As she remarked"just be patient boys it will be over before ya know it".....

Only listened for a minute or two mid-to-late morning, but I also noted 500-series "ALS Golf Cart" units on A-Beep 'Sears 2' TG 0-02-142 (or at least that's the TG I wrote down).
