Yes I will be there again this year as well.I haven't missed a Dover Spring Race for 15 years.A lot of fun with a scanner also.
So much going on at once it will boggle you.I'm sure all Nascar races are that way.
Besides the driver freqs you have race track officials, medics, crash crews
FRS all those crazy campers TV,radio, aircraft.DELDOT and Del State trunked system.
I keep erasing my scanner after each race but will try and create a log file after this race.
DEL Kent Trunked system Medics use Statewide MA channels as well as some Police MA for traffic control.
Aircraft flybys and landings.
Dover AFB stations a controller inside the track for pre-race chopper drop offs and post race pickups and also Mil flyovers. They'll direct them to one of 3 landing sites.Usually on 121.900 or 122.900.I can't remember off hand which one is right.
Also monitor Dover appch 132.4250 and Tower 126.3500.
Mil flyovers can change but in past have heard them on 323.000.Listen to Dover UHF freqs 257.8750 appch, tower 279.6250 for updates.
Inside track also scan 450-465 MHZ range to find crash control crew dispatch. They are fun to listen too.Controller is like a drill sargent when it comes to tow trucks and track clean-up.Constantly yelling at tow truck drivers and ambulance guys.I think last year was around 457 MHZ area.
TV-Radio...You have to listen to unedited MRN radio 454.000 and maybe FOX TV announcers 450.2375.When they go to commercials it is hilarious sometimes especially in later stages of race. You will hear MRN guys talking about Ice Cream and who is buying near end of race.Must be some running inside gag with Dover races.
You can get updated NASCAR driver freqs at Racefreqs.com and Jayski's
www.jayski.com/links/scanners.htm
Have fun and will hopefully get aircraft flyover details when track releases that info later this week.Good chance you may hear some practicing Thursday and friday.
