Thanks Tim, seems things have definitely slowed down on this since last year.

I will be heading west in the next few days, I will try to get and confirm the LCNs for the new Oakland site and see what bandplan those System B sites are using.

OKAY

Some people may notice that this thread now has fewer posts. This is the Iowa radio discussion forum. And this thread is about RACOM Rebanding.

Questions on how to program RACOM need their own thread.
Updates on rebanding in Nebraska need to go in the Nebraska radio discussion forum.
Posts about other radio systems should go in their own thread.

Has anybody figured out the LCN for Sioux City sites yet?
I think I have the freqs, but it is not right yet. I got the control channel, but not locking in on a scan.

Have we figured out what "system B" is yet? A guy on "scaniowa" says Red Oak, System B, is using the following:

856.5375
857.5375
858.5375
859.5375
860.5375
861.5375
854.5375
855.5375

RACOM map says this is a System B

I confirmed the System B LCN order earlier this week during an 'active' skip event around 1am.

System B, Site 12:
1. 856.5375
2. 857.5375
3. 858.5375
4. 859.5375
5. 860.5375
6. 861.5375
7. 854.5375
8. 855.5375
9. 856.0375
10. 857.0375
11. 858.0375
12. 859.0375
13. 860.0375
14. 861.0375
15. 854.0375
16. 855.0375

There may be some oddball ones in the 16-24 range but i didn't see any.

I received this yesterday on iascan

From: Chuck Gysi
Just saw this come across. 73, Chuck, N2DUP

RACOM Network to Migrate from EDACS to P25 (7/1/11)
Executives at RACOM in Marshalltown, Iowa, announced a migration strategy for the company’s public-safety network that operates in the Midwest. The EDACS network will gradually migrate to a digital IP, Project 25 (P25)-compliant platform.

The migration will begin in the third quarter with the installation of the redundant, geographically split, master P25 controller switch, the first P25 tower sites and the communications gateway that will link the EDACS-based technology to the P25-based technology.

A RACOM P25 network will provide several benefits to end users, including common technology to provide interoperability with the statewide networks in Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska and the Iowa statewide communications plan. Agencies can also use devices from multiple manufacturers of P25-compliant mobiles and portables.

The company’s current network will continue to operate until at least 2017 and most likely until about 2020. However, many RACOM network customers are preparing for the eventual migration of the network by buying multimode and/or multiband radios.

“Customers like Black Hawk County and Scott County (both in Iowa) have recently purchased new Harris radios that are capable of both the EDACS and P25 trunking protocols,” said RACOM officials. “If you haven't yet migrated to P25, you will be able to communicate with those RACOM network users who have moved to P25. This is accomplished by linking the EDACS and P25 technologies together at the network level.”

MPA's will work with the rebanding, yes. They won't do the P25 stuff of the future but that is a few years off it seems.

It looks like the Collins Site is now a "regular" site. Before wasn't it some sort of SCAT(can't remember terminology)?

Callsign is WPRS477

I will try and play with this later on tonight.

Hmm still a SCAT site as of 9PM Monday. I see they added 855.3375 and 856.8625 to the license.

Did they have it in 3-channel mode at some point?

I should have said, looks like the Collins site being converted to a "regular one". Or am I reading this wrong?

Nope, looks correct to me from the license but listening to it now on the air it is still SCAT.

Guess we will see!

The frequencies listed here are the correct ones.

To further assist:

Where are you in location to Marshalltown?
What radio are you using?
What about coax/antenna?
Maybe its programmed wronged?
