A rapid, system-wide rebanding is set in motion beginning February 1st. RACOM is looking to switch 2 sites every day to the new frequency plan.

More information to come.

Pella and Malcom will be switched in the near future, either today, the 2nd or tomorrow. So anyone in that area would please reply with changes i would greatly appreciate it!

They are looking to make this as rapid as possible to eliminate issues with radios not roaming properly.

Thanks in advance!

Malcolm or Newton seems to be rebanded also but from my location i cant tell which one im hearing. Is there anyone in those areas that can confirm a strong control channel on 856.7875?

TY for the sticky

Tomorrow will be Cedar Rapids, with Iowa City switching over Friday.

Anyone in that area willing to do some scanning when the switch happens? Thanks in advance

Wow, this is going to be a mess. Thanks for keeping track of this for us. I'll contribute what I can, but I'll bet you have a better grasp of the Des Moines metro systems then I do. :lol:

Theoretically, we would know about all 12 or so of these frequency sets before rebanding is complete?

I'm new to trunking. I programmed my bct-15x with freescan and radio reference. So if I want to listen to Malcom now, all I have to do is change the old freqs to the new ones listed above? Is that correct? Do I need to change anything else on the Malcom system in my scanner?

Thanks, Kyle K0KJL

It may be to early to tell, but will each system have the same frequencies like it is now after the re-banding?

Tech is enroute Cedar Rapids 2, which is the south site, i beleive. System 13. Heading to the north site after that.

K0KJL: The LCNs also changed for that site i beleive, so you will need to put them in the order above. Instead of channels 1,2,3,4 in your scanner, it will be 10,11,12, and 15. Make 13 and 14 a blank channel.

newsphotog: There is something fishy goin on, they are giving the new systems letters now. They mentioned that after the switchover is complete, there will be another ProFile blitz to put the new freq in the radios and get rid of the old. What makes it weird, is that they said older radios, (non RPM to be exact) will not support the second phase because "there isnt enuf room for all the old and new" Which makes me think that they are either going to give each site a designator, or for some reason some radios wont be able to have enuf SYStems in their flash. Time will tell on this one. I was hoping they would just modify their existing 'master frequency plan' but im sure an endeavor this large would overlap more than it would be useful.

This early in the game its hard to tell what order, if any, they are going in. My money would be they are switching over ancillary, non-critical sites first. Saving the large, multichannel sites like Des Moines, Marshalltown and Waterloo areas for when they can designate more manpower to make it faster. At the rate they are going we should find out soon enuf!

Is there a program I can download that will tell all the LCN's once I find the CC? I have a 996t w/ DISC tap.

I use UniTrunker, you can get it from the WiKi here. Makes finding active LCNs a breeze. Still need to find out the actual frequency, but at least you can watch for activity this way. Unitrunker's Site

Malcolm:
System 8
LCNs: (10) 857.1875, (11) 858.1875, (12) 859.1875, (15) 859.1375

All confirmed

To find the RACOM reband licenses do a ULS Advance Search for:
Radio Service = YM
FRN = 2579704
Status = Active

I compared the Malcom (WQKD878) reband license with what you found in the real world. The only issues comparing the two are
1) 859.1375 isn't on the license.
2) 854.1875 is on the license and not listed above.
And of course no LCN on the license.

Will see how this goes as more are rebanded.

I've been unable to scan on the Cedar Falls tower, but I can hold on TGID's and it will pick it up. I dont get it, does this usually happen if its been re-banded? Does anyone have any info on how to get the new freq's for Cedar Falls?

Thanks
