Today I spent a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon at Freeland Lookout, scanning the bands and the enjoying the peace and quite of the location. I spent a few hours both scanning and also searching. The use of "Close Call" is not possible at this location due to the number of strong signals near by.
Below is a photo of the communications hut, the Launceston City Council have a repeater on 78.3125MHz which is mostly used by crews in the city area. They also use this as a linking site for some UHF frequencies used for reporting water levels in water reservoirs.
Metro buses are on 463.275MHz which is linked to their other frequency of 463.525MHz which runs off Abels Hill. These two frequencies are linked and both carry the same radio traffic, it is best to listen to which ever one provides the best signal to you.
