Group,

I am kind of scratching my head!

I did a little clean up on an ARC500 file. After I uploaded it I am getting some strange info. In the last line of the display it used to show only the radio ID. Now it sometimes shows some other value. I have attached an image of how it used to populate all the time. Also attached is a photo of how it now populates sometimes.

Anyone know what this new value is?

Hey Freqhunter, I like that Ghoulardi pic. Turn Blue!

(to a stranger reading this post, this is a compliment.)

Looks like you assigned that alpha tag to that radio ID.

Mine does something similar when I check "show trunking channel" on my programming software. Try unchecking that and see if that solves it.

If you are talking about the "00823", that would appear to be the channel number for that particular transmission-- there is an option to turn that function on/off in the global menu.

This only happens when I have Show Trunking Channel checked as well.

If it is a Channel Number why does it show "00823" on one transmission then "RadioID: 21987" on the next for the same talk group?

Hi ya Hi ya Hi ya!!

I go back further than that. Ghoulardi with Ernie Anderson. TV8 on Friday nights. Occasionly Big Chuck too. This was in about 1960-1963 time frame. Gosh, I loved that show! Bill

My guess is that when both "show radio ID" and "show trunking channel" are on, the radio ID, if available, overrides the trunking channel. The radio ID will only display if the radio catches the transmission as it starts, when that data is transmitted. If it catches it late, the trunked channel shows up.

Guess we are going to have to start a Ghoul forum!

Nothin like listening to the scanners and sipping on ice cold Turn Blue Ghoul Brew. Or on those special nights cook up a little kielbasa washed down with Froggy Sqeezins.

Maybe CBS will bring back Mary Hartski or WEWS a news anchor like Dorothy F.

Guess I will have to bust out my Bearcat III’s. I ran three of them back in the day. A low band/low band, VHF/VHF & UHF/UHF. Twenty four channels!!!! Cutting edge in 1979.

Hmm, I was going to say the same about you enabling the 'trunking channel number', but I swore that the channel numbers were only in the 380-779 range (like the offset settings in VHF & UHF Moto trunk settings).

Now I gotta go grab my 500 & check this out for myself!

EDIT - Yep, you have the trunking channel number turned on. I fired up the NJSP 800 MHz system, and saw channel numbers that went down as low a 248 at one point...

The channel numbers for "OBT Systems" (VHF and UHF Mot) are limited to the 380-759 range. On other Mot systems, though (e.g. 800/900 MHz), the channel numbers have a much larger range.
