As posted above, this is now official. There will be a meeting on Sunday, February 19th, 2023 at Davanni's Pizza, Bloomington, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The street address is 8605 Lyndale Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55420, Phone 952-888-6232. To give people a general sense of where this is, it is a few blocks south of I-494 and a few blocks east of I-35W. They also have free wifi. Also, if there is interest, I can bring my AT&T hotspot. I have unlimited internet and I am happy to share it. I do know that some people are reluctant to use wifi at public locations and I certainly understand why.

If anybody is interested in an official (or unofficial) talk in frequency/talkgroup, please let me know. For analog, I know that 146.700 works very well. If there is DMR interest, perhaps I can get a DMR talkgroup. I also have the ability to use D-Star and YSF.

Please consider bringing your equipment to show off to others. I am always interested to see how each receiver performs on the ARMER system.

You may order food ahead of time, if you want, but it is not required.

I, personally, don't currently own a huge amount of equipment. If there is interest, I could bring any of the following:

-Unication G5 Dual Band P25/DMR Voice Pager

-Uniden SDS100 Digital Handheld Scanner (DMR/NXDN Upgrades)

-RFinder B1+ Dual Band (VHF/UHF) DMR Transceiver

-DVMEGA Cast (AMBE3000 based Multimode IP radio for DMR, D-Star and Fusion)

-AnyTone AT-D878UV Portable Transceiver

How does the simulcast decode quality compare between the uniden and the unication?

Sorry I missed the meeting. I live fairly close to that Davannis, too. I just saw this thread today, 2-21.

Someone asked about the Unication. Here is an example. On 98th street and Lyndale avenue (just 12 blocks south of the Davannis where this meeting was) my Whistler and GRE scanners won't even break squelch most of the time while trying to listen to Bloomington Police. This is in the heart of the city of Bloomington and both scanners miss 98% of all radio transmissions on East Hennepin ARMER, at that location. It's not because the signal is too weak, it's because the signal is essentially too good. (simulcast) However, my Unication G4 works 100% of the time regardless of my location in Bloomington, including 98th and Lyndale.

I've said it before in other threads.... My Unication has performed absolutely perfect on ARMER here in the south metro. The only time I hear a distorted broadcast is when the broadcast is ACTUALLY distorted. I can tell this because when I hear a distorted transmission, I then hear the dispatcher say "can you 10-9, you were digitized".
