• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi there

I need help creating a custom soluton for a radio dispatch interface.

In short I do work as a Medical Event dispatcher for large events/concerts extera.

I am looking for a soluton to create a little interface box which can do the following

1. Allow me to connect a plantronics headset using QD
2. Allow an external PTT foot pedal
3. Allow me to connect a wide range of radios using a Hirose 6 pin universal connector

4. Secondary to the above I am looking for a way to make all of this work with a DM4400e base station. Ideally the rear port with a Hirose connector on the end

Is the above even possible? If anyone can help I’m sure the wider radio comuminity would appreciate as I have searched far and wide for a solution or any data on the above but can’t find it.

I have looked into using a software based solution however for my use case tbis would not be possible.

For ease I have attached the Hirose connector pin diagram aswell as a photo of the Planteonics QD with pin descriptions

I am open to using a QD to 3.5mm adapter in order to make the above easier

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would appreciate

Anything of this nature can be done and has been done in the past. The problem is finding a shop that will do it. Most of the shops that did custom work are long gone and the shops that use to do it and they're still in business will no longer do the custom work. They only want to do production work now. It's not rocket science.

PVP Communications use to do my custom work but stop about 3 years ago. Getting qualified workers was the problem.

Check with Klein Electronics, Planet Headsets, Racing Electronics, and Racing Radios. Rugged Radios has been involved with various audio systems for racing and off-road activities. They have the know how, but I'm not sure if they will take on anything custom.

Easy enough to find such external speaker/mike setups in the wild. Some even with bluetooth.

Rugged Radios RRP100 Multi Radio Interface

Price Insights Typically $700

Unfornately that isn’t really what I’m looking for.

I will only be using one radio. I just need an interface that allows me to do all of the above. The plantronics QD cable can be swapped for a 3.5 jack (I have a QD to 3.5mm adapter)

Roughly how much you reckon they would charge for such a setup?
