Good Afternoon everyone! I am looking for a recommendation on a radio to purchase so that I might be able to listen to the radio traffic for my local Huntsville Police Department. All of the streaming feeds online for Huntsville are actually the Madison County Sherriff's Department and not HPD. If anyway could help with a radio and frequencies in the Huntsville, AL area I would appreciate it!!

thanks!!!

The cheap option is RTL-SDR. It cost me about $50 and I can listen to all of the trunking systems in my area. It's a lot more technical than a scanner but has many other advantages than a traditional scanner. Half of Madison county is encrypted and SDR can take care of that if you know the key and a little of C++ coding. (I am just stating the capability of SDR and not advocating the use of it for decryption or do anything immoral)
