Hi Hoser -

First off, thanks for your great reply's and positive attitude on RR - I see you posting frequently.

Regarding the amplified Rat Shack speaker, I have one in my Durango just behind my arm rest. I use it with my 396T and the remote head. I like the speaker's volume and clarity. I don't get rattles if I turn up the volume as I did with a slim line powered unit from another mfg. The only thing is that it is about 4x4 and kind of fat so it needs a little space. Trade off for decent volume & clarity. I like it.

Have a good one

Pete

Some sample prices I was asked to post (though the RS web site doesn't seem to show them):

PRO-106: $299.99
PRO-197: $299.99
PRO-164: $99.99
PRO-163: $119.99

EDIT: The request mentioned above also says "Pricing effective 12/18 to 12/24, in store or web orders", so maybe that's why they're not showing up on the RS web site right now.

$299 is what I paid with the F&F coupon, if one is waiting for a good price it probably won't get much better than that, unless of course they do another F&F....

I checked the RS website too. I wanted to purchase the 106 on line as I see its currently on sale for 399.00 until christmas, but I cant find anything regarding the 106 for 299.00 for the 36 HR sale. How did you here the 106 was to be offered for 299.00 during the new 36 HR sale period... if you have a link, we would all love you for ever. If they are going to be on sale for 299.00 I will buy two.

I haven't received authorization to reveal who gave me the above info. However, I'll say this: he works in Ft. Worth, and he was in Dayton this year.

My info above is legit. Anyone who is aware of my "contacts" with RS and GRE won't doubt it.

Hmm, I've been keeping my eyes open for a decent used Pro-96 but maybe I should consider getting a Pro-106 when it's on sale for $300. Now I just need $300 HAHA

I will confirm the above statement. If it comes from Don, it's as good as it gets

I think I will pick me up a 197 for that price, I don't really need it as I already have a 500 and 600 among the masses, but hey, what the hell right  :D

I am not doubting anyones creditibility, I simply wanted to know where I can better look for any specific ad or website to complete the purchase of the 106. I thought the 399.00 sale price was good until I read the above posts stating its on sale for 299.00 during a 36 HR sale... I read that and almost choked on a cookie. I want a new digital scanner so bad right now, and if I could pull up the site with the 299.00 pricetag listed beside it, my wife might just allow me to make the purchase this evening. This sale price very much exites me, and I would love to learn how to complete the 299.00 purchase this evening if its possible... or at least make the purchase during the 36 HR sale dates. I am sorry if I came off sounding like I doubted you. I respect each and every member of this community. I read alot, and learned alot about the upcoming 396 for 2009, but I think I would much rather have the 106, as I am a big RS scanner fan. Have a wonderful evening.

As I added in my post this afternoon, the $300 price isn't good until 18 Dec. It probably won't show up anywhere until then.

Wonderful news Don, thanks for the heads - up and clarification for me. I shall await the date of December 18th to make the purchase, and hopefully or should I say finally, I will get my new digital scanner. I will be sure to tell my friends that the 36 HR sale should carry the Pro-106 at the sale price of 299.00 This will make alot of scanner enthusiasts happy for the holidays. Take care.

Thanks for the great thread Hoser. Same kudos DonS. I would have missed the speaker I've wanted on the price drop. Found a couple of other items to boot.

PRO-197: $299.99
PRO-164: $99.99
PRO-163: $119.99

And I just paid $149.99 about a week ago for the pro 163 figures, that's the kind of luck I have lol! .
