I'm thinking about going out and getting the antenna for my Pro-95. What benefits have people gotten from it and is it a good buy?

The smartest $15 you'll ever spend.

Excellent for 800 & 400 megs. If most of your monitoring is UHF,
go for it.

To tell you the truth, this antenna does quite well on VHF Hi band as well. No problem listening to Dutchess County Sheriff, 151.340, 155.64, 155.835 and 156.135. I know this is not possible, but I would swear this antenna was truly "matched" to RS scanners!

I agree... The BEST $15 you will spend. I have a Pro-92 and Pro-94 and the improved reception with this 800 mHz antenna was truly remarkable!

I concur, excellent antenna.

I use it as a baseline for my antenna projects. I pick the most distant CC I can pickup with the 800Mhz ducky then compare it to my built antenna. I then connect into Etrunker and see the difference in signal as reported by Etrunker. Yeah I know it's not scientific but close enough for now until I really go overboard. ;)

Anyone got a catalog number? I'm looking for an antenna and all I can find on the Canadian RS site is the K40 whip for CB's..

Hmm, that wasn't what I thought it was. Thanks anyway. Maybe I'll check out the US RS site and try to apply the cat# to the Canadian one.

Jay,

I picked a couple of those rubber duck ones up when I went down to Grand Forks for the weekend in the spring. It works just excellent.

You can't get that antenna in Canada at Radio Shack. I asked them if they could order it up for me and they would not even help me out.

Sorry guys, trying not to hijack the thread, but..

Anyone know how a Canadian would come up with these and/or 20-011? The US site says it won't ship outside the lower 48 and the Canadian site has nothing to do with scanners any more (or antennae, for that matter).

[edit: Thanks Randy. Hopefully I can figure something out. I wish InterTan would clue in to what they've done to us Canadians.]

In my area they have some fire still on 46Mhz, works good down there. I'm close to an interstate, but can pick up C.B. fairly well, too.

I was tempted to get the RS Deluxe antenna, because they don't have any 800 one's in the store across the street. Last time I drove to Seattle my telescopic seemed like it didn't do too well. They rechargeables were a little low, but maybe I should have brought along the stock one. I am tempted to try the new GRE 800mhz antenna from their website instead of having my local store order a RS one or picking one up at a store next weekend when I go up north. Has anyone tried the GRE new one? I doubt the deluxe one will do better than the telescopic, which picks up CB way better. Maybe GRE will ship to Canada for that guy...

You could drive down to the store in Kalispell,Montana but you'd spend
a fortune in gas :!:

Could you have it shipped to a border US mailbox and pick it up?

Better yet get it on EBay and have it shipped. :)
