radio shack base antenna for the scanner

usually i try to give advise, this time i need some advise.
i am wanting to put up a base antenna for my796&396 . i have a
radioshack 25-1300mhz base that i purchase a while and i am
wanting to put it at home. i remember having one about 30 years
and it worked perfectly on my old bearcat 210&250. however
i wanting to hook it up to one of my uniden and i would truly
appreciate any input that you kind folk out there would give

Should be OK!!!!!

If it worked before it should work again...

That said....if it has been outside for years, you might want to clean it up a bit...corrosion, rust, or anything like that can degrade its performance, especially the connector.

Coax cable has improved greatly since years ago...you have read it before, go for the best you can afford. It won't take long to read old posts and determine what is best for your application.

Otherwise, put up in the clear, feed it with good cable, and happy scanning...
