I need some help from the scanner gurus. I have 2 radio shack Pro-197s. One is mobile and one set up as a base station. My FD runs on the P25, trunked system, 450 mhz, simulcast in WV, Ohio Co. I think it is still phase 1 but is supposed to be upgrading to phase 2. I was having problems due to the simulcast. One of the towers is pretty close so I bought a yagi antenna, pointed it at the tower, simulcast problems solved. I could hear everything fine. Now, within the past several weeks I have not heard a thing from my FD on my scanner. I did some investigating and found the tac channels and dispatch are showing up active on my display when they talk but no audio. Same on my mobile. I thought it was the local tower having issues so I drove into town so I would be receiving on a different tower. Same issue, I could see that they were talking but with no audio. In all cases my scanner was showing the "T" that it was receiving the control channel. What happened ?? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Well for one thing your county fire dispatch is listed as TDMA which your Pro 197 wouldn't be able to track

Ohio County (35)

2101835TOhio Co FireFire - DispatchFire Dispatch

What specific fire company and/or talkgroups? Seeing a mixture of FDMA and TDMA tac channels listed for your county. As the RRDB reflects today your scanner would only be able to pick up mode "D" talkgroups but it's possible some could have changed without anyone submitting an update to the database to get the mode changed to "T"
