The Genesee County site is simulcast. That can cause missed transmissions and garbled audio with the PRO-197. Are you speaking of talkgroups which include a talkgroup ID (TGID) and alpha tag or talkgroup ID's only? I see that you can display a radio ID on line 4, but I have never used that.

What you have described is normal, I am watching mine as I type this. Sometimes the Radio IDs are there and sometimes they are not there.
It seems to me that if the radio traffic is from a neighboring site or if the scanner stops on a signal that the very beginning of the call was missed by the scanner the Radio ID won't be displayed. Also, if there is rapid back and forth between units only the original Radio ID will be displayed.

I was able to turn on the function for viewing radio-ID's and for setting radio-ID alerts. I have perused the GRE boards and manuals, along with the (somewhat inadequte) RS manual, but not really sure on setting up the alerts. From what I have read so far, it would appear that radio-id's are...

Thanks! I wasn't aware that the PRO-197 could display radio ID's. I checked my software and found that it is available on line 4 of the display.
If your stopped on a channel you almost always see the "IDs" but in the scan mode not always
