Need connection to download updates and frequencies between scanner and computer. Looked several places with no luck. Have been inactive and looking to rejoin scanner community. Thanks

If you're asking about firmware updates, that Pro-197 scanner is nearing 15 year old technology, and you won't find much of anything new in that area. If you're looking for frequency downloads from RR, you will need third party software that's capable of using the RR Web Programming Service. There is a list of those programs and other info here:Need connection to download updates and frequencies between scanner and computer. Looked several places with no luck. And those updates are quite old.Contrary to what has been said, firmware updates remain still available, just a quick search in the upper right on this site brings

Ok I knew it was there since that first link for them is mine
ARC500 Basic is all you need to program your scanner. The Pro version provides logging and other functions. As stated earlier, let us know your city, county, and state, and what your want to monitor so that we can determine if your scanner is capable of monitoring what you want..
There are plenty of us using scanners much older than the PRO-197 without issues. I'd like to note that firmware is an extension of the hardware. You don't typically need an update unless there is a specific issue it corrects. And those updates are quite old.

Hartford County, Connecticut primarily. If not enough of what I want to hear will update to different system. Current frequencies available on RR cover most of my interests. What are you interested in monitoring, post your State, County, City, and specific agencies of interest. Post a link to them in the RR database so we can see what you are interested in... there are many new radio formats out there that the Pro-197 can no longer monitor. No sense putting more money into it if it won't monitor what you're looking for.

Yes and I am old! Using ARC-300 to program PRO-2055. Using the "easy to read" manual trying to unlock scanner bank. Follow the directions to the letter with no success. What am I missing. Tried unlocking bank by the following.Yes they are old, its an old scanner!![]()
| "To Lock or Unlock a channel, select the channel by entering the bank number and channel number (Ex: 001) then press MANUAL to advance to the channel. Press L/OUT. lo changes to LO in the display if the channel is locked out." Changed all channels to LO and still will not work. I admit I'm not the sharpest tack for somethings, following directions is not one of them! |
