Radio Shack PRO 24 Scanner.

A friend who thought scanning might be fun bought this at a yard sale, no batts/Ae etc, he then gave it to me but neither neither of us know anything about it. The Freq range is up to 800megs but that's about it. Where can I get a manual? do I need software?. I could use this at the race track but not if it's going to be a pain in the ash! I put a simple Ae on it and it rx's the wx band ok but thats it. The various buttons appear to function but I'm wary of lockout etc. Help!!
