I am very sorry. Those of you that have sent me PMs and I have not replied, forgive me. I have been very sick today. My bp is through the roof, and my heart rate is 130-150. I keep passing out for long periods. I have lower abdominal pain, and a low grade fever. They are taking me to the hospital. Very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Please take care of your self and follow up with us when your feeling better.

In the GREFwTool, starting with step #2 through #4! I can not get the 'Firmware Update' to activate! I am trying to fix my Pro-668 with the WS1080 bin file! When I do step #2, I seem to get it confused with step #3 as far as 'plugging the scanner in the USB Port'? On my scanner the display says:
**********************
uP BootVer: RF1.1
uP App Ver: RU2.4

CPU SW Upgrade:
Waiting for USB
**********************
When I hit the 'Down Firmware', the EZScan 4.4 version is displayed on the tool!

My selected Parameters are:
Scanner Type: (Pro-668)
Firmware: (WS-1080)

Any help would be appreciated!

What ever I'm not doing wright is causing me not to get the 'Firmware Update' button to work in the tool!

1. Before you do the update you need to plug in the scanner and ascertain from Device Manager what COM Port is assigned
2. Before you try the upgrade, go into settings in the tool and set the COM port
3. You need to download the 3.8 from someone and then point to it in the tool, wherever you stored it

scosgt.....Thanks for your help! I changed Ports and got the correct display to show in the tool and was able to Update to WS firmware! Thank you very much! Now I have to do some more reading about the P25 channels and also figure out what the 'S' stands for in the top line of the scanner display! All I am able to receive now is Conventional freq's! Thanks

If you did not use firmware 3.8 you will get this exact problem. You have to get someone to give you the 3.8 firmware.

You can't "download" it though the tool. but you can install it via the tool.

Upgrading Pro 18

Hi folks. I know that this is an imposition but I'm kind of a tech illiterate. I'm trying to pull from this thread all the information I need to upgrade my Pro 18 but the thread is so long with so much info that I'm lost. Can some kind and patient soul please provide me with a step by step that I can follow? Thanks!!

It will receive DMR but not sure about ras, seems to be missing some traffic

Whistler software says CPU 3 is installed.

Eric, thanks for making this update possible. My area suffers from major LSM simulcast issues. The DSP update has made a huge improvement to decoding.

The procedure to change firmware....

The following assumes you already have the GREFWTOOL tool with the firmware 3.8 in that folder, and ezscan software ( FREE from whistler) on your computer and you have archived your data.

1) Start the GREFWTOOL tool

2) Take the batteries out of your scanner and unplug it

3) Press and hold the menu button while inserting the usb cable (one end already plugged into the computer) once plugged in, let go of the menu button. WAIT for the beep from your computer. It could take up to 30 seconds.

4) In the grefwtool go to settings and press rescan, the comport should be filled in, Scanner type is the scanner you are connected to, Firmware is what you want the scanner to become WS1080 in most cases unless your restoring..

5) Select connect to scanner icon

6) Select UPDATE firmware in scanner icon, select firmware ws1080e U3.8.bin (DO NOT select the download firmware button! it will give you the latest and it only partially works. It will not provide DMR, DIGITAL or P25 on your scanner as of this writing) Your scanners should now be upgrading the firmware. It will shut down when done.

7) Go into ezscan (NOT iSCAN) do the DSP UPDATE, library updates and/or restore from archive or. transfer database if needed. via the cable or card reader DO NOT ALLOW A FIRMWARE UPDATE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND TESTING SHOWS ANOTHER FIRMWARE WORKS 100%

8) Turn your scanner on, if it loads fine and works, put the batteries in and enjoy the fruit of Eric's work!!!

If you can't do this. I can assist you via remote access. Download teamviewer 12 (free for personal use), Then PM for details..FYI: I don't work for free as I'm a self employed jack of many trades!

I would not take the batteries out. If there is a power interruption I think you could brick the scanner. But that's just me.
