I reckon I am not going to be at home with my family this Christmas. They tell me I have congestive heart failure. They say there is no permanent damage they can find, but I have to get rid of a lot of fluid around my heart. Dr is also changing my Bp medicine. I should get to go home next week. Thank you for the concern an well wishes, and have a merry Christmas, happy Hanukah, or however you celebrate this time of year.

Get well soon muskrat39! You will be in all our prayers. Here's to a speedy and full recovery!

Smooth and trouble-free upgrade, using the 3.8 from the Facebook page. Win7 Enterprise 64-bit. Monitoring the local snow plows as well as a university security trunk located 22 miles from me. Security has a slight digital garble to it, but improves when they speak louder. I've never heard DMR before, so that might be normal.

For anyone wondering, and I didn't see this mentioned, your 668 programming and current SD card works just fine in the new setup (note that I am not using the factory 4GB SD card; I put that one away and am using a Sandisk 8GB). I saved my 668 programming via iScan, did the firmware and DSP conversion, didn't bother changing anything on the SD card, used EZ Scan to read the 668's archive with no issues. Verified that the existing unmodified 668 programming was working fine in the "1080". After adding some DMR programming in EZ Scan, I just wrote it to the scanner.

Eric, what an awesome Christmas present this is! Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication. Wackyracer, thanks for your step-by-step, although I did not remove my batteries.

Muskrat, I really hope you're feeling better soon.

How do you know if it's decoding dmr does it say dmr somewhere on the screen

Yes, it will say DMR on the screen. Not sure if it has to be set like mine which is not the standard out of the box display setting or not.

I'm also trying to get up to speed with the firmware post, but there is a lot to shift through.

I don't have the GREFWTOOL tool or firmware 3.8. Can someone PM me the tool and the firmware. I think the instructions are posted in this thread, correct?

I have the pro 668.

No permanent damage, that is great news. Take care, get lots of rest, and Merry Christmas.

Is there a way to manually install the DSP version? I'm thinking that since the DSP version is installed thru the EZ Scan software, if Whistler decides to change the version would there be a way to install manually if needed?
I always like to have a backup incase it is needed later.
Thanks.

Ive managed to successfully use the tool to change the firmware, but for the life of me cannot get the EZScan software to detect my 1080, I also did the unsigned driver boot and install successfully. I already have the 1088 driver installed since I own a 1088, is it not the same driver? I also tried detecting with the original RS 668 program and it doesnt detect either. However, when I open GREFWTOOL it does detect my scanner and shows WS1080, Boot 1.1 and my cpu at 3.8 and DSP 3.0 how can this be? Perhaps Im already updated since I updated the scanner earlier this month with the RS firmware, but that still doesnt explain why I cant detect it with either retail program. At least the SD card pops up and I am able to load scanlists.

Thanks for this!

That would be of concern for me also, as long as no update is done in EZscan it's ok but if you have remount hardrive or whatever

Hello,

The dsp file gets saved as CONFIG__.BIN on the SD Card. It gets copied every time Ez Scan writes the configuration to the SD Card.

Ez Scan saves it's files in the WS 1080 Digital subdirectory under your documents directory. Backup the files located in that directory.

Thanks Eric, found the CONFIG_BIN file and made a back up. Thanks for providing the resources to make this all happen, Happy Holidays
