I've been able to load DSP 3.0 back on the scanner, confirmed by EZScan 2.19. Still haven't been able to change the firmware back to 4.5. Still NO DMR.
Exactly my experience yesterday...

Yeah, I thought I remembered some posting that 4.5 and 4.6 WERE working with DSP 3.1.
...Is there any procedure to rollback the firmware to PRO668e_U2.4.bin then retry WS_1080e_4.5.bin?...
From what I personally experienced after updating my "unofficial" PRO-668 to DSP 3.1, I believe there is no way to change the CPU firmware to ANYTHING ELSE other than what you had in the scanner (in your case CPU 4.6) prior to loading the latest/current version of DSP 3.1. None of Eric's tool versions worked for me after loading DSP 3.1.
I can't say with 100% certainty but I believe your only way to get DMR functionality back in your radio at this time will be to send it to Whistler for the official upgrade. If you do send it in, at least you will always be able to load the very latest versions of the PC Application, CPU Firmware and DSP Firmware and not have to worry about any issues like you are experiencing now.
Can't install any firmware. I even did a fresh 1080 EZScan install on a windows 7 machine that never had EZScan installed before. I've tried all versions of Eric's tool, tried to update CPU firmware through EZScan and the stand alone updater.
4.6 firmware was already installed with DSP 3.0 when I upgraded DSP to 3.1 by accident. Prior to that DMR/TRBO worked. I don't have a copy of the 3.0 config_bin file.
Well I have two questions,1. Has anyone gotten their scanner back from Whistler? 2. Have they noticed any changes in reception or operations?
I sent my Pro-668 (with Erics hack) to Whistler only to receive an e-mail back that they could not upgrade because the USB port was not working. Very confusing because I update my Library every week thru that connection.and according to e-mail not many options. Also anyone having this issue with Whistler?

How long ago did you download DSP 3.1 from the Whistler update server using EZScan? Was it right after it was released back in May?
Also what version of the EZScan PC Application software are you running on your computer? Did you stay with version 2.19 or have you updated that also?
...One of those mysteries in life I guess..
I can't imagine why you're having difficulty with it unless you have went beyond what everyone said was okay or are not doing something correctly. There is a very precise set of steps you have to use for it to work
Whistler released new updates for their SD scanners last Friday (June 30th) that included new PC Application versions, CPU Firmware versions and a new Control Demo version. Although DSP 3.1 was not re-numbered to a new version number at that time, I suspect that a change may have been made to DSP 3.1 to do a "check" to make sure it was installing to a genuine WS1080 or officially upgraded PRO-18/PRO-668/PSR-800. If that check was not successful, I believe DMR functionality was then disabled. It also did something that then made all versions of Eric's tool unable to change the CPU firmware back and forth.
My suspicions are just that but are based on what I personally experienced and what 3 other posters (Fasteddy2, carbonfiber and sibbley) here on RR have also confirmed. It appears that the original DSP 3.1 (which was released on May 22nd) initially worked OK with scanners that had been updated using Eric's tool but that apparently is no longer the case. Because all of the other latest updates were released on June 30th I believe that is when the change may have occurred. I can confirm that I downloaded DSP 3.1 on July 2nd and sibbley posted that he downloaded it on June 30th and we both experienced the same issues afterwards. YMMV
I made the mistake of upgrading my Pro668 to DSP 3.1 before reading this but I'll have to say, I am still receiving DMR...
