A friend of mine has an older Pro 70 hand held scanner that is locked up. It shows what looks like an "upside down key" in the upper right corner of the display.The (upside down) key— locks/unlocks the keypad to prevent accidental entries.
Posted below is what they have done to it so far but nothing seems to unlock this unit;
One thing they tried is to press the manual key to advance through the channels, if programmed frequencies are displayed, you will need to press the LOCKOUT key for each channel to possibly restore it. The manual doesn't list a global LOCKOUT release, so you will need to release each channel individually then go through each channel hitting the lockout button on the scanner......This didn't work!
To turn on the keylock, press and hold that button for about 3 seconds until the upside down key appears on the display. To turn it off, press and hold that key button for about 3 seconds until the upside down key disappears from the display. This didn't work either!
Resetting the Scanner
1. Turn off the scanner, then turn it on again.
2. Insert a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset opening on the side of the scanner and gently press then release the reset button inside the opening. Nope, this didn't work either!
And last but not least.......
Initializing the Scanner
Caution: This procedure clears all information you stored in the scanner’s memory. Initialize the scanner only when you are sure the scanner is not working properly. Follow these steps:
1. Turn off the scanner, then turn it on again.
2. Press and hold CLEAR.
3. While holding down CLEAR, insert a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset opening on the side of the scanner and gently press then release the reset button inside the opening.
4. When the display reappears, release CLEAR.
Note: You must release RESET before releasing CLEAR, otherwise the memory might not clear.
And unfortunately this didn't work either!!!
Is there any hope to getting this scanner unlocked?
Has anyone experienced similar problems with the old Pro 70 hand held scanners?
Thanks for any advice someone can give me on this problem.
