I have a RS Pro-95 scanner scanning an EDACS system. I've turned off channel delay and set talk group delay to zero, but it still holds for 2-3 seconds after each transmission. I assume this comes from the repeater. Is there a way to eliminate this so that the scanner immediately releases and picks up the second half of the conversation?

I am new here but you are right. It most likely is the the repeater. It's called "repeater tail" and there is nothing you can do about it. That is of course controled by the agencys radio system. I have a Pro95 also but I have my channel delay of and my TGID delay set to 4 seconds just my preference. Hope this helps. David

To hear the "second half of the conversation" you WANT the delay on!! I actually increased my delay, so not to lose the transmission.

EDACS systems use a little beep-beep kind of signal at the end of every transmission, if your scanner is programmed correctly, you will not hear it. As for the delay being set, ID Delay -- Yes; Frequency Delay -- No. Obviously if you are listening to a conversation on a specific TG ID, then you want to follow it. In nearly 100% of the cases, the conversation will move to a different LCN as the conversation progresses, so ID delay is good (the same can be said for Moto too.) If your scanner is programmed correctly, it will go back to the CC before that beep-beep I mentioned and look for the announcement of where conversation moved and go to that LCN. If there is no ID Delay, it will just scan into the next conversation if finds, may be the one you were listening to, or it may be another one.

how do you set the tgid delay on the 95
With the Win95 software, just above the Clear Trunk Info button on any channel tab. I am not sure if it can be set by hand, I no longer have one to test.

To set one by hand, just press 'FUNC' and then 'DELAY' when you are programming the ID. It defaults to 2.0 seconds and can be programmed
for 0.5 seconds up to 4.0 seconds in half second increments.
After you choose your hold time just press 'ENTER'.
