Looking to program my friend's Radio Shack Pro-96 Digital Scanner, I've checked past posts and read that a few members like Win500 (there might be a newer version out I'm sure.) I haven't done any research further than knowing that particular name.

*I have freescan for my Uniden BCD396XT, will that work?
Otherwise..
*What is the software of choice for this and is there a link?
*Can I do any updates on this Radio Shack Pro-96 as well?

If you have any hyperlinks to help me out it would greatly appreciated, Thanks everyone.

You're mixing apples and oranges here. Neither Win500 nor Freescan will work with the PRO-96. You can get either Win96 or ARC96 for this purpose. You can find the links here..

Pro-96 - The RadioReference Wiki

If by 'updates' you mean firmware fixes, no that's a totally different process. However either package will allow you to program the 96 with data for your desired area(s)

best regards..Mike

Neither will, not natively anyway. I have heard folks say that using VMWare or Parallels with a XP environment is the way to go with this, but I'm not a Mac person. AFAIK there isn't any Mac software for the 96...

best regards..Mike
