I found a RS Catalog #: 20-176 scanner antenna in the discount bin at a local RS for $10 and found that it works great for transmitting on the 2 meter band without and mods at all.
I am only transmitting at 25 watts so I am not sure how it would act at higher levels but at 25 watts the swr is great.

just something to think about.

Hi,Merlin:
I did use one of these for Xmit,at one time, when I was first getting started getting into MURS.The clerk assured me that no antenna tuning would be neccessary.WRONG!

I installed it on the tower,SWR was 3.1:1!(on 151.820Mhz)The center element was too long.

So,I had to take about an inch off of the center element, and SWR set up perfect,at 1.2:1.

Later I perfected my two diploe stack which blew the ground plane away!
(the groundplane is now another scanner antenna)

Thats odd mine is fine (as is) maybe some of the center elements are a bit longer from the factory?

Mine is almost 1:1 at 146 mhz

Or maybe something else close to the antenna affecting it.

Anyways you can transmit on it.
