Ok have emailed Gre a couple of times have not ever heard anything back how is the rebanding going to do to our scanners uniden has a patch which we will be able to load to the scanner via the pc interface will radio shack due the same or will we have to send it in??? I would rather sell my radio then send it in after all the horror stories about the 96 people getting back radios that were not theres or becoming lost. Just wandering if any one had heard anything on this??? I own the pro 95 and 97.

Hi Fireant, and all....
I'm afraid that I am too concerned about this issue. I have a feeling that GRE/RadShack will either support rebanding with a send-in (like the Pro-96 issue that I also was involved with) or maybe they have this time included a flash upgrade (from lessons learned from the Pro-96 issue) with the Pro-97. I must admit that I have owned alot of radios in the past 20 years and I prefer GRE made radios (especially with Starrsoft). My main radio target is aviation (both civ and mil) and I think that GRE has a better receiver in that area than Uniden. Although I feel that Uniden has the edge over GRE on trunked systems (except digital) but that's another story. There are things I like about both brands to be honest, and that's what keeps the hobby alive (and me broke [just kidding]). :shock:
Anyways, a good topic here for GRE/Radio Shack to answer.... and I hope they do just like Uniden is.
