Lafayette is working a traffic stop with the officers portable radio stolen by the suspect who fled and of course on Boulder's modern VHF system that individual radio can not be disabled as it could on a trunked system.

I'm downtown also Jerry but 27th floor, although Boulder channels are great these days since they have rearranged the repeaters and picked up the additional frequencies.

Sounds like they found the officers radio dumped in front of the library.

I've said this before, but it would be great if agencies would trunk the good old (and strong) VHF & UHF freqs. Just about bedtime. I'll be back tomorrow around 1830hrs.

I got most of the incident recorded except for the initial request for emergency cover. It was good listening to for a few minutes but nothing exciting happened.
They had almost every county and Lafayette unit out there within 2 minutes. One unit after another calling out arrival

The first request for assistance was the best the officer was screaming and out of breath sounded like he was fighting with the suspect who stole his radio.

Good thing dispatch heard him, I believe he was calling for help over someone else's open mic. Wasn't sure though, I had only one radio going and missed part of it

Just an update of the operation

This is just an update to what happend a few days ago.

MEDIA RELEASE December 3rd, 2004
TO: Boulder Area Media
FROM: Sergeant Lance Enholm
RE: Deputy Assaulted – Update Case# 04-7296

On December 3, 2004 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Boulder County Sheriff’s Deputies located Kevin C. McDonald, the suspect wanted in connection with assaulting Deputy Montez the previous night. Acting on a tip McDonald was found in the rear area of a business in the 1000 block of Main Street in Longmont. A friend of his rents this space from the building owner. It is unknown at this time if McDonald had permission to be in the building. Deputies initially contacted McDonald at the back door but he quickly retreated into the building and locked all the doors.

An arrest warrant had been obtained earlier in the day for McDonald. He was charged with Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Driving Under Revocation along with other traffic violations. The bond on the warrant was set at $10,000.

SWAT teams from Longmont Police Department and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene after numerous attempts to establish contact with him via the telephone and PA system were unsuccessful. The SWAT teams made further attempts to speak with McDonald but met the same result. Chemical munitions were deployed into the building with no affect. McDonald was ultimately found hiding in a hole in the floor covered by wood and carpet by SWAT team members during a search of the building. He offered no resistance when arrested at approximately 6:40 in the morning.

Members of Longmont Emergency Unit along with Longmont Fire Department and Pridemark Paramedics were on scene and provided support for the operation.
