Comet MetEd (MetEd is a free collection of hundreds of training resources intended for the geoscience community.) is now offering a course on Radio Wave Propagation. Course description as follows.....

"As a society we have become dependent on satellite communications, but satellites fail with alarming frequency. Before the advent of satellites, long distance communications were carried out with high frequency (HF) radio transmissions. This lesson examines the factors that control long-distance radio communications, with an emphasis on refraction in the ionosphere, frequency selection, and the effects of solar radiation."

The course can be found at https://www.meted.ucar.edu/training_module.php?id=1394#.WyRItPZFxzk

I have been taking their courses now for quite some time, and have found them not only very informative, well done but also fun-- plus they really help shorten a long plane flight...:)
.
I just completed the SatFC-J: The VIIRS Imager course last week,- although I have stay'd mostly in the standard meteorology's..... (my father was an Air Force meteorologist- next time I see him I'm going to try out my new knowledge of altocumulus lenticularis formations on him - show him what a Sm**A he raised for a daughter.... :) )
.
Seriously, its a wonderful free site. Thank you for mentioning it; I think other will find it fun as well.

You're welcome! As A NWS certified Storm Spotter and soon to be Ham. I thought this course might be of interest to some. As Lauri said folks, ALL courses at Comet MedEd are 100% FREE! Great resource for weather spotters everywhere.
