Hey guys. Semi new to all this scanner stuff. When i used them they didnt have digital and all this. SO! Just got a Uniden BCT7 cant pick up EDACS in chatham-kent. On 866.2500 i hear some type of police force dont know who thou. Worling on getting a BC245XLT. Will this pick up chatham-kents police fire and ems?

You may want to look into getting a BC246T... The 245 will work, but the 246 is a much nicer little radio in my opinion. As for the Chatham area, 866.2500 is the Chatham/Kent simplex frequency. Pretty low power from what I've seen, but it's there and best of all it's analog

The C-K police is digital AND encrypted so you're pretty much SOL (with the exception of the analog simplex frequency you found). Ambulance is analog and on the provincial Fleetnet system (VHF trunked). The 245XLT will track it nicely.

I wouldn't get a 245 to monitor analog Fleetnet. I keep
reminding people, the 2nd and 3rd ranges are coming into use,
and the 245 won't track completely when that happens.

PRO-96 or PRO-2096, prehaps.

Yes, the BC246T for analog. The PRO96/2096 do digital also. I guess this is the big decision, where to park your money, on analog only, or with digital capability.

How does this simplex system thign work? I don't hear it all day just a few hours at night and a few times in the day.

hello all I am also new to trunk tracking but I do know that chatham Kent is digital enc. please excuse my inexperience but is this simples freq. like a simulcast oor something like that ?
