• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Radioddity CS-47. A lot in a small package.

I got this because my new car has no room for radios, so I had to do some innovating. I saw this radio on Amazon for 25% off
so I had to give it a try.....

You get a lot for $75!

This is an AM/FM radio, so is totally up to date. It does not have SSB, which is fine for me.

First thing I noticed is the radio has a 12V lighter plug on the end! No bare wires like other reviews have noted. I guess they did some improvements.

This radio seems to have almost all the functions available to a CB at a budget price.

Transmit audio is excellent....at least what I've been told.

Receive audio is phenomenal! When someone is talking, the digital signal processor takes the noise and hiss out. This makes AM CB much more enjoyable.

It has FM, as well as tone squelch so you can set a tone to allow you and a similarly equipped radio to have a conversation and not be interrupted.

The radio has an rf gain also. I usually don't use it, but glad it's there.

My only complaint is that the mic cord could be longer.

The radio has the capability to be modified for illegal power and can be set to the CB service channels is Europe right out of the box. I did none of these things.

Power output was about 3.5 watts..ish. This is sufficient for a legal CB. I haven't tested the modulation percentage yet. I'll update if I do. I keep the mic gain all the way up. I'll decrease it if someone says I'm overmodulated; but most CBers are used to improperly adjusted radios.

In conclusion I recommend this radio. It has all functions and seems future-proof.

This radio has more features than any other radio at this price point.

I love it.71HA8JN95aL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

The mic cord can be extended with a standard RJ-45 cable and coupler.
I have had this radio for about a year and I am surprised it doesn’t get more love. I got mine for around $85, but I saw the deal you got this past Black Friday and that is fantastic.
I did do the jumper swap just to see what it would offer, and you can do 5 khz steps as well, so if you wanted to use it on 10m FM simplex (29.600), you could. Might be fun when the band is open ?

Oh.... it's been out a year? Wow.... of course I wasn't looking for a radio then. I definitely wanted CTCSS/DCS and digital noise reduction..... so I luckily stumbled on this.

Anytone Graces (same).

NRC is the cats pajamas. That’s the real story of the thread: at the lowest cost possible.

And:

1). Tallest antenna. NMO permanent is “correct” actual route, but SIRIO 5000 on mag mount is flat awesome. 5’ tall minimum and to 14’ total is suggested guideline.

2). Antenna system quieting (feedpoint & tranceiver chokes). Wind toroids into each end of coax (keep quarter-wave spacing) to deal with CMC at lowest cost.

3). 12VDC from BATT source fused at POS and NEG to closest ground (just not vehicle wiring). Some extra wound thru a toroid near radio. (Test for noise. KLF-2 filter if needed; research).

4). External speaker. (Could also be a headset).

From experience all are beneficial = acquisition cost & install difficulties pay off.

Act, IOW, like you’ve installed a Holy Grail radio and want the best for it. All radios benefit from best systems.

My tests of a President Randy showed that handheld to be near par with the full-size radio normally occupying that spot in my big truck when into a KL-203.

Once NRC in place high performance is possible. Leverage that as you go along.

Glad you’re enjoying it.

I've watched a few youtube videos on them and I think they look fantastic and I've recommended that to my friends with Jeeps... as it doesn't take any room... just put it under the seat and mount the mic between the seats.... doing the mod is supposed to give you 8 watts. 8 watts and a decent antenna it should do really good for a jeep or limited space vehicle. guess it has huge heat sinks so it should last.....back in my 4X4 days I think myself and all my friends would all have one of those in the 4X4's
