I have a couple of GD-77 radios and they do work DMR Ok for my use. The only thing that I don't like about these is that there isn't a way to externally power them.
Actually all I really need to do is charge the battery when away from commercial power. I have a solar battery power unit that outputs a clean 13.5v. It also has a 120v inverter. I suppose I could plug the GD-77's charger wall wart into the 120v inverter port, but I'll end up wasting a good amount of power using the inverter.
The original charger base wall wart has a labeled output of 12.5v DC (no current listed).
Does anyone know if the charger base itself has any type of charging regulator in it ?
I am thinking I could just take the 13.5v out of my solar power bank and plug it directly into the base but I only want to do this if there's regulator/over-charge shutoff of some type inside the base.
Thanks!
