• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Thanks for the replies, so I can use the same digital contact/talk group number as long as it is on different repeaters and just ignore the name as it has no real bearing, correct?

The TG is the talkgroup that the # corresponds to, the same group may be on multiple C bridge repeaters, if its the same # its the same talkgroup, does it communicates with Brandmeister repeaters of the same talkgroup #? that is the repeater owners choice in C Bridge repeaters,, a Brandmeister repeater that talkgroup # of the same # as the repeater anyone can hear on any Brandmeister repeater and any hot spot using that TG # the same # is the same # period, 310 is 310 all over the world, ,as far as other systems their TGs are their TGs,

Let me back up and ask exactly what are you looking to do with this radio that may help to figure out what kind of answer to give, I take it you are not looking for it to serve as ham use????

No I am using it to monitor fire depts and other non ham uses such as works depts. etc. And many of them use a talk group 1, which doesn’t happen with ham radio

okay yeah you should be good, makes sense now, you just need the IDs for the system and put your channels in channels, make a zone for all the channels and then a scan list and should be fine , if promiscuous worked correctly you would only need 1 ID it would stop on the rest, unfortunately its not 100% funcional as of yet

Absolutely correct! TG#1 is still TG#1 irrespective of how it's "named" in the CPS. In fact, for your described purposes, it might be less confusing to simply "name" the various TGs with their numbers!

Code:
 TG# Name
 ---------------------
 1 TG1
 310 TG310
 3180 TG3180
et cetera...
