Next steps -- I am preparing a development cycle for a RR Database 2.0 release... I have lots of items on my agenda that I'll share with all of you soon.

However, I want to hear what you want. No btiching and complaining, I'd like to hear from everyone on some great suggestions for new features for a 2.0 release.

Bugs and existing "issues" are already included on the list.

That *should* actually be very easy. I second the motion, although I would suggest tab-delimited (since some records might have commas in them).

With CSV files, fields that have commas are merely enclosed in double quotes. abc,def becomes "abc,def".

And double quotes in a field are represented by "double" double quotes, and the whole field is enclosed in double quotes. "abc"def" becomes """abc""def""".

This "standard" pretty much lets you do whatever you want with text. (Even line breaks and leading/trailing spaces are allowed, as long as you use the double quotes.)

"Any software" that knew how to interpret the fields in a CSV file. Since there would be several different types of record (frequency, talk group, fleet map, band plan, etc.), software that was reading the CSV would either a) have to interpret some "special" fields in each record that described the remaining fields or b) let you copy/paste from some other software that accepted CSV files (e.g. export RR data to CSV, import CSV into spreadsheet, copy/paste from spreadsheet to scanner app).

As an example, the various ARCxxxx programs from Butel save their data as ".mem" files (the ones I've investigated, at least). A .mem file is just a CSV file, but each record has a specific format - the fields in the records are interpreted by the ARCxxxx software so that the program "knows" what each field represents.

A few of the WinXX apps export/import CSV files in a similar manner: the first field in each record describes the record's function.

In order to make such a function really useful, we'd probably have to come up with some RadioReference CSV "standard". That is, we'd need a specification for the various fields in each record of a CSV file. Software that supported the RR CSV format would adhere to the spec and would interpret the fields accordingly. But... we already have such a thing with the XML interface!

It has been pretty well confirmed by Lindsay, but, I second the motion for conventional data anyway.

Don't know if this still applies, but I'd like to see a way to track the changes on a system or county. I know you can click the link beside the "Last Updated" but all it says is, deleted site, or added site, or changed site. But it doesn't tell which site was deleted or what exactly was changed. Trying to keep up with a growing or changing system is almost impossible if Control Channels have changed or added and all you see is "Changed Site." I just think it would be nice to be able to track the system a little better. Maybe click a link that shos exactly what was changed on the site or system, or more detailed description under the "Last Updated".

Also more than 10 county subscriptions for paying members would be a great feature as well.

Just a thought or two. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. RR is a great site!!

How about a way to rate the data? Users in each area could use a ratings system to recommend their favorite frequencies. Then, if I'm going to Los Angeles or New York and I want the top 50 recommended channels/talkgroups to monitor, I could run a query and get that info with one click.

There may be a way to do this now but I have not been able to discern what it is.....
I'd like to list just the forums I want to monitor and not see all of them.
As mentioned (questioned) previously, when I "mark this forum read" the screen reverts back to
that subsection instead of the overall forums list.

An idea for Amateur Radio database.

Hi Everyone,

I like to see a amateur radio database on the wiki webpage link to each state link's with inside the database have amateur radio frequencies / club meeting's / there own timezone's of when there club meeting's and there website link on what frequencies there on like a calendar schedule Amateur Radio database.

People can simit the info on there amateur radio frequencies / club meeting's / there own timezone's of when there club meeting's and there website link so you can updaded on the amateur radio database.
