Whats your FAVOURITE radio for AM reception?

I consider OLDER radios to have a better front end and as a result they recieve MUCH BETTER (Having an internal antenna opposed to an external one that might not be grounded correctly resulting in excessive noise, etc)

I remember when i had a tuner in the 70s and it was AMAZING ON AM!! (.53 to 1.7Mhz) I had a metal safe i put on top of the unit to maje the reception a little stronger!!

Ah the good old days before RF interference from unshielded things,IBOC garbage and poorly made recievers that dont do well on AM...

What are your picks? Do you have any good VINTAGE radios still going??

I have a collection of antique radios that numbers in the low 50's. They don't all work (yet), but they're all complete. The favorite working ones would be the Atwater Kent Model 30, the BC-342, and the Grundig 3028, which gets heavy use. Oh, and then there's the old Wega out in the garage.

I dunno... Maybe I'm not so sure I really have a favorite. I like 'em all. They all sound great. But for AM band DX'ing, there's only one choice - the ITT Mackay 3041A.

I use an Admiral y1009a radio, but then again I also use it for AM shortwave below 22mhz. Killer radio! Or a Philco 39-116 floor unit hooked up to a good longwire.
