With the imminent demise of Radio Shack, I was looking at this yesterday. Are they worthwhile at any price? Yesterday, my local store wanted $13.99. If it hits $10.00, would it be worthwhile?

Nothing special. I have the version with an L and BNC as opposed to the straight BNC.

Rarely use it as the standard antennas work better. Might be better for VHF Low, but I seldom listen to that any more.

I've had this version with the BNC connector through a number of scanners. It's a fair all band antenna. Since I focus primarily on the public service bands in the 700-800mhz range, it isn't my primary antenna. If you're into aviation or ham bands it's not a bad choice.

I've had mine for a lot of years, It's been a great little antenna.

Had one years back, not sure what ever happened to it. It was a great VHF-Lo/Hi antenna, not so much for UHF even shortened up, but I did not have any 800 MHz to try it on at the time. I may see if the local RS has one on sale, just for nostalgia...there's no VHF-Lo around here to speak of anymore, and I have what VHF-Hi there is covered already.
