I live in Genesee County and since they have finally decided to announce what appears to be a definite startup date for joining the MPSCS. What would be the better scanner Uniden digital or a Radioshack digital? Looking for suggestions on how easy to use, read the display info, program, etc... Thanks

Hey there fellow Genesee County person :) . I saw your post and I figured I'd try and help before someone yelled at ya.
There are a LOT of posts debating that in the forums. The best thing I can do is recommend you search the different forums and see what advice has been given in the past.
Personally I prefer the Uniden. I like the visibility of the screen and the fairly simple menu functions. I tend to buy things under the KISS principle (Keep it Simple Stupid.) The Uniden scanners have a lot of great functions and the layout is simple (at least in my head.) The only drawback I've found to Uniden is that they don't offer a lot of help in their users guide to the radio. It can get a little tough to decipher at times.
Like I said, do a forum search and see what others have said. There's a lot on the site for pros and cons for both Radio Shack and Uniden. Basically it's a matter of personal preference in a lot of ways.

Dear Sir,

i hope this will help you. i looked on www.universal-radio.com last night and found a Uniden APCO 25 capable scanner WITH CARD for about $350

I would recommend this site, since the company is in Ohio. Also, the Radio Shack versions sell their radios WITH the card. quite a money saver.

Take Care.

Which radio did you find? If it is not a BC296D, BC796D or Pro 96, it will not track the 9600 baud control channel.
