The pro 651 I pick up for $120 at the store, so they are cheaper Sellers are asking more as not as many and not well know the price. So sellers are selling for higher prices. The market is flooded with pro 668's at the moment, so seller are dumping them. Once the dumping is finish then prices will go work it way back up. It all supply and demand and right now Radios Shack had a huge inventory of pro 668's.

And for most people the 668 is a better deal:

It not only does Phase 2, but it does not require the purchase of a cable or software. For many people, that is a big deal. So the 668 is an easier sell.

Pro 668 is the much better choice, just for the Phase II alone, just have to many 668's, Wanted a 651 to replaced the broken pro 106 that die a while ago. Plus have the case, programming cable and software already from the pro 106 and know that scanner well. Plus the pro 106 worked well. It is by far proven to be one of the best scanner I had at the time and my favorite over the years.

The last scanner I bought was the PSR-500 when it was initially released. I've been on the SDR bandwagon for a number of years now and just haven't purchased a new scanner since the PSR-500 handles my local motorola trunked systems just fine. Only a few talk groups are digital. Now my county is on the upgrade path to P25 Phase II so it's nice to grab a capable scanner cheaply. I just hope they don't go overboard with encryption. I'll be seriously disappointed If that happens. As awesome as SDR is it's nice to just flip a power switch and listen to what's going on locally.

I'm looking forward to getting the new scanner.

It says he ended the auction due to a price error,

Yes when you end a listing, Ebay doesn't give too many choices to pick. You just have to choose one. I'm not so sure it was an error on his part having them at $179. A few hours before that he sold 6 for $159. If anything, he realized he low-balled himself and should raise the price. But he could have done that by just "revising" the listing. Don't have to cancel the whole listing to do that. He was probably supposed to get 6 more in and jumped the gun on the listing before he actually had them in hand. Ooops- he never got the 6 radios for one reason or the other.
But of course we are all just speculating and he is probably reading all this and LHAO :D

The auction page says: This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

When the pro668 was posted the seller had one pro651 listed at $228. After the pro668 was cancelled the seller lowered the pro651 to $150 then listed six more pro651 for $199.

Looks like the seller just messed up on which scanner they had available.

Now the 396XT is showing up for under $300 new. Not sure if that is a good deal or not.

If you look at the sellers other items, it appears that he bought out a radio shack store.

What I have found out here is, "good stuff" is being left off the floor until the final $20 fill-a-bag sales.

Then someone fills a bag with higher end items (scanners included) and walks out with 5 Pro-668's for 20 bucks.

Where? I did see someone in the store filling small baggies with components when I pickup a couple 668's and they were already on Phase E 60% to 80%. Those Bags wasn't big enough for scanners.

That makes no financial sense for the company whatsoever. If that happens, I think it would be an employee walking out with the bag of scanners, not a regular customer.

Good for them flooding the market with
super deals on digi scanners (if it's a really a flood).

Maybe the bubble will burst in inflated digital scanner pricing.

$500+ is ridiculous for a scanner IMHO.
Someone's laughing all the way to the bank.

Scanner are overpriced, so nice to catch a break. especially on a phase II scanner and push prices down on other models. 651 for $120 and ETC.

I see he cancelled my order....what the hell....

He mess up and relisted what he may have sold by accident. As someone pointed out, he pulled the listing and listed six 651's shortly after instead. So I think he just listed the 668's by mistake and realized it and pulled the listing.

Picked up at RS store that had 3 668's left at 80% off.
$99.99 each.

Also 6 RS 800mhz for $5.00ea
and 2 RS Telescopic Antennas for $3.00ea

So people selling on ebay still making some money even with fees

That the best deal I seen on these yet. Phase II scanner for $99 bucks is cheaper then a new conventional analog scanner. The cheapest I bought one pro 668 for was $160, the other two 668's were $200. Then antenna did get for cheap $6 to $3 bucks each. The best deals were stereo receivers for $25 bucks and Uniden home patrol 1 scanner for $100 bucks. You did good on those.
