I bought the square trade warranty on the first one that was doa but I cancelled that. I don't know if I will get one for this or not. When I bought a used pro-106 off e-bay 2 yrs ago broke it worked but the antenna bnc connector was messed up and the previous owner tried to solder it and messed up the circuit board I sent it out to rs repair they put a whole new board in for 100.00

You wouldn't believe the hack jobs I've seen over the years of working on scanners. I wish I had taken pics of the poor Bearcat 760XLT that a local "CB Shop" had butchered up my trying to use a huge 12 gauge wire to jump a trace, leaving a blob of solder the size of a nickel and twice as thick on top of some components. Amazingly, the radio was fully functional after I removed the blob of solder and changed the 12 gauge wire to a 24 guage wire and fixed the broken trace. There were worse ones, but they were parts radios as they were too messed up to save.

The worst handheld I ever saw was when someone tried to fix the antenna connection on his Pro-43. The whole back of the case (I still don't understand how he did it) was burned and warped. How he thought he could do this without taking the back completely off is a mystery. He killed the top PC board, and it became my first Pro-43 parts radio. It was revived soon after when another butchered up 43 came to me for a parts radio and I combined the two and got a good one that I sold to a neighbor.

You see butchered stuff in every hobby. I've seen some guns that people have done some very bad/strange things to them, and you have to ask yourself, "Why would someone do this?"

I believe you, as some of the stuff I seen is shocking. Just finish servicing a Yaesu ft-847 that someone hack the crap out of. It was so bad they put electrical tape to cover up the solder work and burned up lifted traces. Seller attempt to mod it and failed and still sold it as fully working anyway. It was far from working and way out of alignment. Lucky was able to get it like new again. A Krell amplifier was another one. Guy paid eBay seller top dollar for it, was suppose to have been just serviced. One of my friends notice issues with it and sent t to me. It was bad. They used cheap non original parts like for example cheap resistors instead of the original dale 2% resistors on the blown channel side and didn't bother to clean up PCB, or measure and match any component. melted wiring and whole nine yards, It was a mess. I have receive stuff in bags and box as person couldn't figure out how to it back together. So nothing shock me anymore. Then the Epson 3880 printer I had to service yesterday, as the customer call two different companies, to try to fix it and one told him it couldn't be fix and need a new head and other guy put pry marks on the side of the casing before the customer stop him and show him the door, before he could do anymore damage. This printer was in new condition, only 50 pages total, all the issue was a $89 dollar pump cap assembly as rubber band somehow when inside and around bottom gears and broke some teeth's due to the grinding as gear were stalled. Took a couple days to wait for part and only a hour to fix it and get it going again. People will attempt anything, just to try to make what they hope is a quick buck

Has anyone gotten their pro-668? I should be getting mine today. I was wandering how it received etc. I know my pro-106 doesn't pick up that great sometimes . My pro-96 picks up real good to bad they don't support firmware updates for this.

Pro 668

Just got a Pro 668 on Ebay for 195.00 so they are showing up on auction now. Still under 200.00. Just is if it is the box of rock.

If you wait during the middle of the day they usually drop to $180 range, or lower, as quite a few people have these that are trying to get rid of them. I pick up one for $179 yesterday. $207 is not bad still for phase 2 scanner, just seller making more money. Sometimes if you message them they will drop the price some and sent a offer.

I bought one of those 207 scanners yesterday. Still a bargain as far as I'm concerned. Should be getting it today.

I pretty sure it is. Considering leaving a red, only reason why I haven't yet is I know these type of sellers have multiple accounts and they more likely will try to retaliate. I am pretty sure they are testing the market, or make it seem like they sold cheap to decrease the value so they can buy some cheap to resell later. I seen this type of crap pulled before, as they do this with other collectables, or niche market items.

I see he replied to the feedbacks left.

Well I received mine today from a different seller it came brand new in the box. I was in a hurry today time was tight. I pulled it out of the box put batteries in it set the clock country date etc.I used the programming on the sd card which I must say was smooth! I had 3 counties and the pa turnpike programmed under 5 mins! I used this in my truck through greene Fayette and Westmoreland county,Pa the apco 25 is real smooth no stuttering like my pro-96 but I didn't use the enclosed stubby I used the aftermarket 800mhz antenna off my pro-106 it was a tad bit better reception wise then my pro-106 but my pro-96 picked up better but again I haven't messed with the 668 much yet but all the digital was real smooth. There is not much volume on the small speaker compared to my 96and 106 but again it took me under 5 mins to program this with the provided sd card so I must say so far I am impressed!!

oh also use some good rechargeable batteries or alkilines as I did notice it does eat batteries and this doesn't have a charging port as the previous pros do! it has a cellular type of usb port which I assume would be the charging and data import ! I will let you know after tomorrow when I get some time to dig into this

Great Price 32gb Sandisk

Since we are talking about accessories...
For 10 bucks and you can pick up at your local Walmart
and it's the brand that seems to work- Sandisk
It's only a class 1 but I don't think it matters in this application, but correct me if I am wrong. I haven't experimented with cards yet. The 4GB that came with the radio has been sufficient for me...so far
SanDisk 32GB Class 10 microSD Card with Full SD Adapter - Walmart.com

Enjoy, Bob

Just be aware that the larger the card, the longer it will take at startup.

32gb causes weird issues and to slow and notice that with any brand including SanDisk, I found 8gb to be the sweet spot and SanDisk 16gb will work, just take a little longer to boot up. A class 4 card will be fine, as faster cards is not going to improve anything and do recommend unchecking quick format and letting it do a full format, when preparing card. Use a external card reader, instead of card being in scanner when doing transfer, as scanner is slow, due to going though USB to serial chip.

I must say I am VERY impressed with my 668. Programming is a breeze and reception is excellent. The display is nice and bright. I also have a 996XT and I love that scanner too, but I'm already seeing evidence that the 668 handles P25 much better than the 996XT.

One thing I miss about the Uniden is the excellent display format. For example, I can create a system called "Nassau County Fire", create groups like "Plainview FD" and "Merrick Ambul" and then put frequencies ("channels") in each group such as "Fire Dispatch" or "Medical Console". This way I know EXACTLY what I'm listening too. With the 668 I'm struggling with that. I might just create separate playlists for each fire department or ambulance company, and then put each corresponding frequency under each playlist. I will lose my main "system" name because I don't see any way of creating one with this scanner. This could also easily eat up a ton of playlists PLUS I have NO idea how that will affect scan speed (anybody know if my idea will slow things down?)
