the RadioShack Pro-94 now has a computer link cable input for programing the scanner with a personal computer.

The cable Number is RS 20-289 same one used for the pro 92/3/5/6.

also the pro-94 will be $119.99 starting on the 28 of August

Is this a new Pro-94 model? I mean it is a little confusing as the present Pro-94 doesn't even have a place to put the referenced cable. :?:

Wrong on the cable used.. and the cable used for the 92 is not the same as the one for the 95 and where is the 94's PC interface at??? Lat I remember the big brother the 2052 had an interface,. but it uses a pin plug method not a straight plug,.. and if you fell for the RS line that this cable will do it all your in for a surprise.

Oh my bad.. but I still stand on the 94 not being able to be cloned, loaded, worked by a PC unless you open it up and do a manual patch and know what your doing.. Also I do know that unless you get Don Starr's WinXX software for conversion you cant zap info between the 92, 93, 95,96, and 99. Still hoping Don will find a way to make Win92 Open the Mil Air in the 92.. :)

1. Not a problem in ref to the cable thing.

2. I guess maybe there isn't a new Pro-94.

3. About that conversion thing, although technically that is a correct statement, take a look at this thread, especially Don's comments toward the bottom. You might find it useful for that Pro-92 you picked up.

4. I don't think he is ever going to do anything to Win92 anymore.

Well I'll be a son-of-a-#@&%! I bought mine two days ago.

My two day old PRO-94 has a port on the side that says PC/IF "PC Interface" no doubt. In the owner's manual it's called "Wired Programming." The interface cable the manual calls for is indeed #20-289 and it directs you to www.radioshack.com for the needed software.

That's all I got,
Gus

Be one if you want  , BUT, just return it when the sale comes out (since you're within the 30 day window) and 'rebuy' your unit. Most stores will just (re)process the transaction and give you the difference back.

As of right now the going price at rs website is 129.99 so its only 10 more than the original 119.99 not to shabby.. they usually don't put three scanners on sale at one pop unless they are about to add new stock.. soo maybe the 2096 is about to get TA'ed by the FCC?

They will pay you the difference. If they don't, just simply return it and re-buy it. As long as your within your 30 days, there is nothing they can say to you.

Well...This is news. I looked all over the RS web site and cannot find any reference to this newer model. Perhaps they will update it shortly.

All Radio Shack scanners have been on sale most of this month. Sale ends tomorrow. All even includes your old favorite, the 2052. :D

I still poke at it occasionally. The "MilAir" feature described above, however, has already been tried - back when I added the extended frequencies to Win93/Win95. The PRO-92 rejects any out-of-range frequencies, displaying "Invalid Freq".

with apologies....

don: if you ever get the 96 to extend let me know... i can't get a freq in the 196.0000 range to load into the scanner... it shows up on the win96 program but indicates 174.0000 on the radio itself.... i have checked the extended freq box to no avail.... great program for a great radio!

The 96 does "extend". However, there are some ranges that are still blocked. In addition to cellular, the range [174.0050 ... 216.0000] is not available (though Win96 doesn't indicate that).

The next version of Win96 will prevent entry of that range, to avoid confusion.

i have found that out--that is where two of our wirelss intercom systems operate and it comes in handy to have in case something goes wrong with the talent's receiver during a shot.... if you ever figure out how to open that range let me know.... and again, thanx for a wonderful set of programs.... i thought when my wife got me the pro 95 my fingers would fall of.... until someone pointed me your way.... and it has been so nice since then....

Apparently Radio Shack is finally listening to its scanner customers... first they make the PRO-96 which rocks....then the 99 which is the best race scanner they could make,..now a new version of the 94 with PC/IF.... hmmmmm maybe they will keep listening and make a next gen with LTR again.. as well as digital? Can't wait to see what the 2096 is like when it FINALLY is released.

Good question.. are there any other new features besides the PC/IF port that has NO software that will work with it?
